The process of every artist is unique; inspiration, experience and location are all key factors when considering finished work. Marie-Ange Hoda Ackad is an accomplished painter in based in Quebec Canada. Known for her extraordinarily large scale impressionistic portraits, Marie-Ange has begun a new series drawing from her time in quarantine.

Marie-Ange’s monochromatic palette and existential examinations of isolation has generated work revealing a new construct of human experience post outbreak in THE NOTEBOOK. As a viewer I found a balanced calm created by her seemingly chaotic use mixed medias. Though this work can be interpreted many ways, Marie-Ange’s own explanation is about the confinement and loss of free movement during this pandemic.

Her perspective questions the reality of physical world, she describes her world as one with alternative facts; where the ephemeral and imaginary overlap to coexist with the tangible.
