Dab Art is pleased to feature a new series of works by Charles Pepper in a small exhibit titled LINEAR PARK at the NAMBA Arts Space in Downtown Ventura.

LINEAR PARK is small collection of works by outsider artist Charles Pepper. A native of Ventura, Charles draws inspiration from his surroundings. Ranging from whimsical to somber, he finds inspiration locally, appropriating a visual vocabulary solely from unwanted and scavenged items.

Working from his home studio in Midtown Ventura, Charles relinquishes all procedures dictated in mainstream art. A prolific collage artist, Charles sees the world vastly different than his peers. By rejecting the established values of the modern contemporary artist, Charles has re-contextualized the concept of fine art. His works on paper bear witness to his remarkable creativity while abandoning all painterly techniques.

A daily commute through Ventura’s dilapidated Linear Park was the literal muse for this exhibit. Once a place for children to play, Linear Park is now a haven for the homeless and a local dumping ground. In the margins of society where a majority turns a blind eye, Charles Pepper finds inspiration. The exhibit on display is comprised of original works paper and experimental sculptures assembled from the discarded refuge found in the rundown park. Charles' LINEAR PARK is a clear example of avant-garde art challenging established cultural values.
