Dab Art is pleased to announce the 2019 winter installment of our quarterly arts publication and online exhibition, GENESIS. This journal will visually explore the turbulent issue of immigration, focusing on etymology and heritage from an artist's perspective.
The U.S. is a country shaped by immigration. Some came on their own accord, others brought here against their will and many fought for centuries to keep their indigenous ways. In some way, every person who currently resides in America has an immigration story of their own, even if they don't know it yet.
For many artists, their own cultural or religious backgrounds have helped define their artwork. For other's it's their physical location or the neighborhood they grew up in that has made a lasting impression. For many, their origins are a question that may not be answered yet. In all instances the genesis of an artist is personal and unique.
GENESIS features artworks that visually explore the stories, struggles and successes of immigration.
