Pleased to present an exhibition of photography, titled SOLO by Lisa Caren held at the world renowned Engel & Völkers in Downtown Santa Barbara.

Caren's work has clear links to the generation of Pop and Conceptual artists that preceded her, while attesting to her affinities for ocean vessels, brilliant spectrums of color, and French design. Working in digital format with great attention to the effects of scale, she transforms elements from the culture of everyday life into artworks that evoke classical archetypes. Lisa’s art invites psychological interpretation while remaining firmly objective due to its uncanny proximity to the real, and its relationship with the minimal. Hot Pink/ Burnt Orange (2011) was a significant breakthrough, marking a shift to less representational works. Recent works such as Green, Orange & Red (2016) and Fat Bottom Girl (2016) culminated by her move to the west coast, further defined this pivotal moment in her development. By re-erecting everyday objects with veracity but on a giant scale, she dramatically alters the relationship of viewer to artwork.

Lisa Caren’s SOLO exhibition will be on view at Engel & Völkers, Santa Barbara, from April 7 to May 1, 2016.
