A VIRAL DIVISION

My commitment to this project is to put forth artwork relevant to the project mission on a daily basis. Part of that is mission giving a platform for the artist’s perspective, not just the artwork it self. As I originally wrote in my essay ART IN THE TIME OF CORONA™, “The artwork put forth by these creative correspondents reflect the realities of their lives, families and communities.”

Every individual has is experiencing this crisis in a unique way. Depending on social status, wealth, age and race; our own perspectives and experiences may differ tremendously. I selected the piece, DANGER AMERICA not because I believe that viewers will concede to the artist’s perspective; but because I believe the artist is creating work that will demand the viewers attention.

Jenny Balisle is multi disciplinary artist based in Richmond, California. She says the goal of her work is to identify how patterns and symbols of influence impact perception, social behavior, institutions, history, and truth.

The political division in our country is still going strong, Though I can’t help to wonder what America’s political landscape will look like when the post outbreak era begins. If we are able to stop and contemplate the our oppositions viewpoint, will we meet in the middle or move further apart? Either way, pieces like DANGER AMERICA can be effective tools to at least open a dialogue about how political division may prove to be more detrimental to our society than the virus.
