INBODIED LIGHT | ZAHAVA SHEREZ
4/24 - 6/24, 2021
The Dab Art Co. is please to present InBodied Light, a solo exhibition of works by Zahava Sherez. Zahava is also a featured artist in the ImPosible group exhibition. Curated by Micheal Swank, ImPosible is currently on display at our Mexico City location Proyectos Galería (PRPG.MX).
Zahava Sherez’s art is the essence of the human journey experienced by the individual and the collective. Zahava was born in a historically persecuted people and has experienced multiple immigrations, wars, oppression, and loss. “While the cultures I have been exposed to taught me the magnificent differences between them, the most important thing I learned is how profoundly alike we are. Scientists, psychologist, cardiologists, hospice caretakers, clergymen/women, Joseph Campbell, channeled information, fractals, kabbalah, and my personal and ancestral experiences have been my teachers, showing me that there is an energetic field that connects all and everything.” For this reason, her figures exist as abstractions representing the continuity and connections within humanity, but not attached to the parameters allowing separation from humanity. Her influences are many but include Brancusi, Isamu Noguchi, Eva Hesse, Rumi, and The Guides. Zahava’s work appears in private and corporate collections in the U.S, Israel, The Netherlands, Australia, Corsica, Argentina, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. She has won numerous awards and exhibited internationally.
Zahava Sherez is a current artist in residency with PRPG.mx living and working in Chapala, Mexico and Oakland, California. She produced some of the work included in the show as part of the residency Art Lab Project with a concurrent group exhibition presented featured in the Zona Maco International Art Fair.
