OONA NELSON - NO MORE DREAMS

NO MORE DREAMS | OONA NELSON

3/5 - 6/24, 2021

The Dab Art Co. is please to present NO MORE DREAMS, a solo exhibition of works by Oona Nelson. Nelson is also a featured artist in the ImPosible group exhibition. Curated by Micheal Swank, ImPosible is currently on display at our Mexico City location Proyectos Galería (PRPG.MX).

‘No More Dreams’ is a series of photographic interpretations of the classic vanitas genre symbolizing the transience of life, the vanity of pleasure, and the inevitability of death. One year into the Covid nightmare there can be no more apt metaphor for survival in isolation. Nelson says “ I am complicit but also feel a sense of remorse and loss. It’s bittersweet, the party seems to be over. There is a pathos to that.“

Oona Nelson is a current artist in residency with PRPG.mx living and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. Nelson is part of a collective called Ort Project which she and Anna Noelle Rockwell founded in 2017.Nelson has a Bachelor’s Degree in Film from the San Francisco Art Institute, and a Masters Degree in Time Arts from The School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She was in academia before moving back to California in 1993. Oona recently completed a residency with Laspis in Stockholm, Sweden.Zahava

Nelson produced some of the work included in the show as part of the residency Art Lab Project with a concurrent group exhibition presented featured in the Zona Maco International Art Fair.
