2023 INDIGENOUS WISDOM
EXHIBITION
We are delighted to announce the opening of "INDIGENOUS WISDOM," a captivating exhibition featuring the works of South American born artists Mariana Peirano and Carlos Grasso. The exhibition will take place at our Ventura location and will showcase the unique artistic visions of these two exceptional artists.
Mariana Peirano, originally from Argentina, presents an entirely new body of work that tells the powerful stories of courageous indigenous women who are currently leading the fight for the future of the Amazon rainforest as climate and social justice activists. With her art, Peirano aims to raise awareness about the critical situation the Amazon rainforest faces and emphasizes the importance of respecting the rights of indigenous peoples. Through their knowledge, cultures, and traditional practices, indigenous communities play a crucial role in sustainable and equitable stewardship of Mother Earth.
To support the cause and organizations working towards protecting the Amazon rainforest and advancing the rights of indigenous peoples, a portion of the sales from Mariana Peirano's series will be donated to amazonwatch.org. Founded in 1996, amazonwatch.org is a nonprofit organization dedicated to safeguarding the rainforest and advocating for the rights of indigenous communities in the Amazon Basin.
Carlos Grasso's artwork showcased in the exhibition focuses on his new series titled "South American Colors." As an homage to his heritage, Grasso brings a diverse range of works to the gallery, including installations, paintings, and optical illusion pieces, all masterfully celebrating the vibrant colors derived from his homeland of Argentina.
Grasso's visual heritage is deeply rooted in a colorful family environment, with an artistic father who was a painter and a mother renowned for her talent as a seamstress (having created dresses for Evita Perón's family). His artistic exploration and navigation of the visual world revolve around the fundamental colors, particularly the primary ones, which appear to be woven into the fabric of Central and South American cultures. From the flowing rivers of the Amazon to the vast plains of Mexico, the heights of Peru, and the deserts of northern Argentina, Grasso's artwork embodies the richness and diversity of the region.
Dabster Arts Inc. invites art enthusiasts, collectors, and the general public to experience the profound narratives and vibrant expressions of "INDIGENOUS WISDOM" by Mariana Peirano and Carlos Grasso. This exhibition serves as a platform to shed light on the urgent issues facing the Amazon rainforest and indigenous communities, while celebrating the cultural heritage and visual brilliance of South America.
