FROLICKING | ADAM DAVID BENCOMO

3/5 - 6/24, 2021

The Dab Art Co. is please to present FROLICKING, a solo exhibition of works by Adam David Bencomo. Bencomo is also a featured artist in the ImPosible group exhibition. Curated by Micheal Swank, ImPosible is currently on display at our Mexico City location Proyectos Galería (PRPG.MX).

Bencomo reflects upon the personal journey to self-acceptance and inclusion in the Queer community with a sense of levity in the sub-series “Frolicking”. Identifying as a non-binary gay male and preferring They/Them pronouns; they explore the rules and regulations of “excess shape and texture” and learning to “love my body and exposing that I am embracing myself as a beautiful existence.”

Adam David Bencomo is a photographic artist currently based out of Baltimore, Maryland. Adam received their MFA from the Maryland Institute College of Art in Photographic and Electronic Media. They also received a BA in Religious Studies from the University of New Mexico. Adam currently teaches as an Adjunct Instructor at the Maryland Institute College of Art in the First Year Experience Program.

Bencomo produced some of the work included in the show as part of the residency Art Lab Project with a concurrent group exhibition presented featured in the Zona Maco International Art Fair.

These self-portraits are the process of learning to love my body and exposing that I am embracing myself as a beautiful existence. All bodies are valid, and I will be Frolicking to show off mine in My Bearish Life.
