This painting is rendered with the assistance of a robotic painting device I invented called "Manibus." Manibus is a wireless bot that is controlled remotely by a motion-sensing device worn by a dancer. Thereby, the physical and ephemeral dynamics of dance are digitally translated into a painting.

"In The River" represents the wise part of our psyche that understands cycles and the seasons. This part of us does not fear death, but flows gracefully through the landscapes of time, knowing that each individual river becomes one with the collective upon entering the ocean. -Bronwyn Strickland

"Lacking the sufficient analytical abilities to address this ongoing series critically, one could describe it instead by saying the visible result of these paintings is 'the bloom'. 'The seed' then would be explained as a meticulous organization of suppressed subconscious feeling that has finally been released. An endless meeting of awkwardness and perfection similar to stepping in gum but also admiring the bubble formed beneath your shoe by the pressure of your steps." -Murphy Phelan

Each hoop is embroidered with its own design and corresponding hue, and the translucent material allows them to be seen separately or together, allowing for multiple interpretations and a new consideration of the eye’s obligatory need to integrate the various into the whole.
