The Dab Art Co. is please to present THE NATURE OF LIFE, a solo exhibition of works by Ali Warren. Warren is also a featured artist in the ImPosible group exhibition. Curated by Micheal Swank, ImPosible is currently on display at our Mexico City location Proyectos Galería (PRPG.MX).
The Nature of Life explores the relationship of the artist to her subject as the people closest to her become the focus of her paintings. Ali Warren explores her subjects to create a seductive and sentimental world reminiscent of a younger Lucian Freud and marks Jenny Saville and Alice Neal as her inspirations. “Painting figures, particularly my daughters and their friends, allow me to capture the fleeting nature of life. By the time I have finished a painting of my kids, their bodies have inevitably changed. My paintings of cityscapes are a break from the flowing nature of the flesh.” Warren balances the order of her landscapes with the fleshy and emotional portraits of her subjects. She is an outsider artist whose discipline and passion have driven her to discover painting as a refuge and celebration of the nature of life itself.
Ali Warren is a current artist in residency with PRPG.mx living and working in the Lake Tahoe region of California. She produced some of the work included in the show as part of the residency Art Lab Project with a concurrent group exhibition presented featured in the Zona Maco International Art Fair.
